Joe Frank Medical & Recovery Fund – Update 69

11/10/2017 – update Part One

Just two days ago, Joe was miraculously and very quickly improving. Discharge is imminent. That was obvious by the flurry of non-stop activity in his room for hours on end: doctors, nurses, specialty nurses, clinical partners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, social workers, housekeeping. I was exhausted by it, and I had only been there for four hours. Joe understandably just wanted to sleep when I left mid-afternoon. I asked him if he would be okay with my not coming that evening. Since his surgery, I’d been coming twice – sometimes three times – a day. Over the past 3-1/2 weeks, I’ve racked up about 650 miles just traveling to and from the hospital (a 15-mile round trip). He assured me he’d be fine.
