I only heard it once. Amongst all the obtacles ,directions and places, the driver is so laid back, and at one point where there was going to be another thing to wait for (tunnel?) he says ,”But its OK, they have entertainment. And just on and on. Love that slow ridiculous pace.

It features some of the greatest ensemble performers in show history including my two personal favorites, Larry Block and Tim Jerome. And it features two of the most hysterical bits — when Ray the bartender can’t get his back-up orchestra to play “For Once in My Life” quite to his satisfaction and when he plays pool with the arrogant ambulance driver. I loved it so much I couldn’t wait to order Parts 1 and 3 from KCRW. It’s got an unbelievable blend of humor and pathos. If this doesn’t make you a Joe Frank fan, there’s something seriously wrong with you. Buy it, download it and listen. Actually, listen to In the Middle of Nowhere Parts 1 through 3 in order. I converted my original cassette recordings to mp3s and I still listen to them 30 years later. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
