Joe Frank Interview: WFMU 2005

From $8.99

Joe calls WFMU during its pledge drive. A rare opportunity to hear straight from Joe a little about his background and how he got into radio. Listeners call in to ask Joe questions.

One listener asks how his feet are doing. (He was born with clubbed feet — a source of problems throughout his life). As he answers, bear in mind that this interview took place just a little over a month before his complete kidney failure. Doctors had failed to recognize signs leading to it – one of which included swelling and other trouble with his feet.

Included in the interview is a selection from “The Policeman’s Ball.” This program was produced on reel-to-reel tape in 1988.

Some questions Joe answers:

  • How does hoax play a part in your show?
  • Do have advice for performers trying to gain similar notoriety?
  • How do you alter your voice?
  • How do you select your background music? Where does it come from?
  • Did the Firesign Theatre have any influence on you?
  • Do most people find your work unsettling?
  • Can you talk a little about Jean Shepherd and Steve Post?
  • What is your opinion of Harold Pinter?
  • Do you have a personal relationship with Jack Kornfield?
  • Series: Interview
  • Cast: Joe Frank
