2-Pack: Iceland 1 (original) and 2 (remix)

From: $17.99

Clear selection

In this two-pack, the original Iceland Part 1 is followed by the remixed, distillation of the original Parts 2 and 3. Some stories are missing or trimmed, but essentially, it has the same motifs as the complete three-hour series:

An account of Joe’s difficult relationship with Lila; Joe stumbles on love letters to her from a former college teacher, Professor Vogel. Entries from Joe’s travel books as he recounts experiences from various parts of the world.

Philosophical questions concerning the nature of truth, what constitutes happiness, and the paradox of attempting to impose on one’s self a state of grace and internal peace.

A nightmare vision of the decline of Western Civilization into barbarism, and Joe’s efforts to raise money for a new religion to meet the needs of the disaffected and alienated.

Joe’s self-doubt about the value of his radio work followed by frustrated harangues of listeners and attempts to engage them emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Produced in collaboration with Arthur Miller and David Rapkin.
